The HML Makerspace

When the first libraries began to pop up, books were rare and pricey commodities. HML is proud to carry on this tradition of providing access to hard-to-get resources by expanding our offerings to include a Makerspace.

The HML Makerspace adds new technology to our services, programs, and collections to inspire our community to create, master new tools, and gain a level of expertise that is important in an increasingly technological world.

Make It @ Your Library

HML offers a number of tools, tech gear, and services that you can use in-house, from laptops to a 3D printer.

Most Makerspace resources require a valid library card to use. Users who don’t want full library privileges can request an online card.

Patrons can check out a Kindle to use for up to 2 hours while at the library. HML owns:

  • Fire HD 10 Kindles
  • Fire HD 8 Kindles

Our second floor Media PC has dual monitors and a selection of photo and video editing software. Anyone can use it for up to two hours a day, and anyone with a library card can reserve time up to two days in advance.

Software unique to this PC:

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements
  • Adobe Premiere Elements
  • GIMP 2
  • Fotor

The library owns a Lulzbot TAZ 6. Patrons can submit files to print for a small fee or attend design classes that include a free print.
