3D Printing Request Form
You’re on your way to getting your design 3D printed! Please be aware of the following:
Printing will be done on a first come/first serve basis.
The library reserves the right to refuse any print.
Printing Costs:
Printing costs start at a base price of $2.50. Any print over 25 grams will incur an additional $0.10 per gram of filament used. This includes the weight of the support material.
If the estimated cost of a print is $10.00 or more, 50% of estimated project cost must be paid prior to printing.
All completed 3D prints must be paid for at time of pick-up. No refunds will be given for completed 3D prints. Payment must be made by cash or check. If a completed item is not paid for, the cost will be recorded as a fine on your library account.
You will be notified when your print is finished. Please pick your project up within 14 days of being notified. If your print has not been picked up after 21 days, it may be discarded.
Failed Prints:
The cost for failed print jobs will be calculated based on the weight of what is printed and is at the cost of $0.10 per gram. Staff may waive the price of failed prints if they believe the issue is with the printer. If an item is not printing correctly, the library will allow two attempts to print. If it fails to print correctly on the second try, you will be notified and asked to modify your design.
Printing Parameters:
- Objects must fit within the print area of 9.84in x 8.2in x 8.6in
- Prints may last no longer than 10 hours. If the print is estimated to take longer a discussion of downsizing the print or printing in separate parts will take place.
- Multi-piece requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Filament color availability may change without notice, and we cannot guarantee that your selected color will be available. In the event that your chosen color is out of stock, you will be contacted to choose a different color.
WE WILL NOT PRINT ANYTHING:
- Prohibited by local, state or federal law
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. (Such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer.)
- Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment
- In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
How To Print:
To request a print you will start by sending a print request to huntingtonmemoriallibrary@gmail.com, the subject of the email should be “Print Request”. Please make sure to include your full name in the email and a phone number if you would prefer to be contacted via phone instead of email.
Include in the request either the print file itself or the direct website link to the item you want printed that has the file available for download. If you purchased a 3D print file from somewhere else please include a link to where it was purchased as well as any other information you may have received after purchase.
After your print request has been submitted it will be reviewed by a staff member. The staff member will then contact you to let you know if your request has been approved, to provide the cost of the print, and possibly ask a few more questions if the print needs to be adjusted.
Once your print is completed you will be contacted by a staff member to let you know it’s ready for pickup.
