Mystery books continue to be the most popular genre circulated at libraries across the country. If you love a good mystery, you’ll be happy to know that there is a great list of books coming out in the summer and fall of 2017.

Authors don’t even have to be alive to write new books. Tom Clancy, who died in 2013 has two new releases: Tom Clancy Point of Contact by Mike Maden will be released in June and Tom Clancy Power and Empire by Marc Cameron will be released in November and continues the Jack Ryan series. The late Robert Parker has a new Spenser mystery called Robert B. Parker’s Little White Lies by Ace Atkins that will be released in May. In September the Jesse Stone book, Robert B. Parker’s The Hangman’s Sonnet by Reed Farrel Coleman will be on the shelves. At her death, Elizabeth Peters (aka Barbara Mertz) was working on a manuscript about the intrepid Egyptologist Amelia Peabody. Longtime friend Joan Hess completed the book and you will be pleased at how true Hess stays to Peter’s storyline and characters. Look for The Painted Queen in July.
