Create a family reading memory this holiday season. Read a “Snowmen at Christmas” in downtown business windows as you holiday shop. Stop at Santa’s house in Muller Plaza for a reading map. Afterwards, stop at the library to pick up your candy cane as a gift for participating. Starts December 3rd and will be up for the month of December.
Look for us on Main Street on December 4 for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Winter Wonderland Gingerbread Contest. We will be posting a holiday-themed Story Walk called Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner in local business windows. The story will appeal to pre-school children and their older siblings will have fun finding the hidden objects on each page. It’s a great chance to walk along Main Street and enjoy the shops during the holiday season and there are plenty of cafes that will be happy to serve you a hot drink that will warm you inside and out. The Story Walk will be displayed throughout the month of December. The Story Walk starts at the Greater Oneonta Historical Society.
This month may be the last of the good weather this year so get outside and get fit by participating in our Story Walk. The walking story will be posted in the Huntington Park between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday. In addition to enhancing literacy and fitness, the Story Walk is simply a fun activity that’s perfect for 3-to-7-year-olds and their parents. After the story is read, there’s an additional opportunity to practice your numbers with a scavenger hunt through the pages of the book. If you can find the exercises in the correct order, you’ll be rewarded with a miniature Frisbee compliments of Get Fit Otsego.
