The popular Writer’s Group will gather every Saturday at 1:30 beginning July 2. Jen, the Writer’s Group leader, has had 2 short stories published this year and she will keep you motivated if you choose to participate in the annual Camp National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). You’ll find a supportive group of writers that will review your work and give constructive criticism. There will also be activities that will help you stretch as a writer. Register by calling the library at 432-1980. The first 15 registrants will receive a free summer themed journal.
Celebrate National Novel Writing Month with a special Writers Workshop series led by local writer Brent DeLanoy. He will lead participants in discussions on selected readings (such as “Bullet in the Brain” and “What We Wanted To Do”) and follow with in class writing exercises. There will also be an assignment of a longer written piece to be workshopped in the final session. Registration is required. The workshop will be held on Saturdays, November 7th, November 14th and November 21st at 1:30 pm. This event is funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
Celebrate writing this month along with our HML Writers’ Group. Check out our NaNoWriMo Famous First Lines Library Display this month and test your knowledge. National Novel Writing Month is an online venture based in San Francisco with participants from all around the globe. The goal is simple, if daunting: write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. Follow the activity by looking at the NaNoWriMo links each week, located on the right side of our web site and by following us on Twitter. There is still time to join our NaNoWriMo Writers’ Group as well. Register Today!
