It’s too early to call it summer in upstate New York, but the AudioFile Sync Teen Program has already launched. It’s a great way for teens to get two free audiobooks every week for 16 weeks and once you’ve downloaded them, they’re yours to keep. You can listen on your mobile phone or any device that has internet access and allows downloads. Overdrive powers the program so make sure you have that app on your device.
The Audio Publishers Association offers this program to encourage reluctant readers, to provide a different way to experience diverse authors from a variety of cultures, and to expand reading time while traveling and doing chores. Listening to audiobooks will expose your teen to rich vocabulary, correctly pronounced and used in context. It’s also a great way to bring the family together over shared stories.
This week they’re offering Johnny Get Your Gun by John Ball and On Two Feet and Wings by Abbas Kazerooni. To sign up, go to www.audiobooksync.com. You can choose to receive alerts by text message or email newsletter. The new titles change every Thursday at 7:00 a.m.
